The Capability Maturity Model
Integration (CMMI) is a tool that is often used by all and sundry to measure
the maturity level of an IT or software firm’s processes – to check how well
and how valued the delivery of a project can be when it is through that firm.
Used the world over, the best
firms have a rating of 5 while the inefficient and below par ones start from 1.
The better your CMMI rating is, the more valued you are as a firm to your
offshore clients and consumers!
So if you are an investor or
already have a software development firm – here are 3 reasons why you should
get a CMMI level rating (or at least a basic CMMI training course implemented)
–
- Learning of Efficiency – once you implement CMMI into your firm, you will be able to check how efficient your staff and your development processes are – and ensure that your conversion from initiation to execution become better and more lossless patterns down the road.
- CMMI is being increasingly used by international clients as well as business partners to check and measure potential partnerships or vendor requests. So if you have a bad rating or worse, no rating at all, you are losing out on a lot of business propositions!
- Most vendors as well as governments now use CMMI to check with firms before they issue tenders and contracts. Again, a lot of business proposals to lose out on if you are ignoring this facet of performance measurements.
We will discuss more as we go
along, folks!
